Thought Leaders Circle – Flexible working: How To Make It Part Of The Norm

Flexible Working: How To Make It Work At All Levels And In Such A Way That It Becomes Part Of The Norm

We know that 87% of full-time workers either work flexibly already, or wish they could.  This is true for men (84%) and women (91%).  What’s more, 93% of those currently not working also want job flexibility.  Yet only 15% of all advertised jobs have a flexible working option.

Most organisations now recognise that flexible working isn’t just for mothers and have policies in place that allow anyone to request flexible working arrangements.  But flexible and part-time working still carries a stigma and many managers actively discourage their employees from applying.  And if they do, many pay a toll in the form of slower or non-existent career progression.

What can organisations do to neutralise the stigma around flexible working?  Can we imagine a work environment in which managers actively encourage flexible working?  What is it that makes it so unpopular and how can we turn it around if a vast majority of workers would prefer it?

In this session we tackle this topic, searching for answers and solutions to the recurring challenges around embracing flexible working as the new normal.

We thank our friends at ING Bank who have invited Voice At The Table to host a conversation on this topic over breakfast with a handful of senior leaders from a number of organisations.  Will you join us?

Attendance at our Thought Leaders Circle is by invitation only.  We hope you will join us.
