How do we reign in inappropriate behaviour in the workplace?

Many consider that 2017’s biggest impact was to highlight the issue of inappropriate behaviour in the workplace.  Places like the film industry in Hollywood, as well as our very own government, have been exposed as environments in which harassment is rife and unchecked.  The #MeToo campaign opened everyone’s eyes to how common inappropriate behaviour is not only at the most visible levels but also within our own firms and companies.  So, what can we do about it?  How do we recognise when inappropriate behaviour takes place in our own organisations, and how can we stop it?  What checks and processes do organisations have in place to address these issues and how effective are they?  Is it possible to create a work environment in which inappropriate behaviour, like smoking at your desk, is a thing of the past?
