Resident Expert on Global Diversity & Inclusion — Culture & Change Management — Leadership, Facilitation, Coaching and Mentoring

Lynn O’Connor is a global diversity and inclusion specialist with over 20 years experience working in and with large corporate organisations in Financial Services, Oil & Gas Technology, Energy, Motor, and Insurance sectors which include HSBC, BP, Centrica, Perry Group and RSA.

During her career, Lynn has lived and worked in Hong Kong, Dubai and Bermuda, holding global roles partnering with countries across Asia Pacific, Middle East, North America, Latin America and Europe. She is acutely aware of the challenges and opportunities for blue chip organisations with extensive global footprints and complex matrix structures, and a focus on cross-cultural context is a key factor in any solution.

Lynn partners with executive leaders and their teams to build solutions to create cultures where everyone can thrive and diversity of all kinds is welcomed and valued. In the knowledge that diverse teams spark innovation leading to better client focussed solutions, Lynn helps leaders to leverage diversity allowing commercial benefits to be optimised, helping to future proof the organisation.

Lynn is driven to help women reach their full potential. She works across the talent pipeline from executive committee, returners and girls in schools to inspire and develop them, giving them access to knowledge, role models, personal development, mentoring and sponsorship. This includes a strong focus on STEM, having worked as D&I Head for BP Technology for 5 years. Examples of contribution include Modern Muse, 30% Club ‘Balancing the Pyramid’ and GROW (Gulf Regional Organisation for Women).

Lynn is co-founder of iSAW (International, Smart Advancing Women), an on line platform connecting women to women in countries and professions, providing them access to a global network, development solutions and world-class thought leaders, targeting women in some of the least represented countries in the world.

In addition to driving the gender agenda, Lynn has actively focussed on values-based leadership, the inclusion of LGBT+, BAME, diversity of thought and disability, and has partnered closely with employee networks to strengthen their purpose and contribution, positioning them as a key contributor to the organisation’s agenda. A strong believer in workplace flexibility, she has been an active voice for flexible working solutions for better business productivity, engagement and wellbeing outcomes.

Lynn has the skills, experience and knowledge that will help to shape governance, strategy, HR policies and processes. She is also able to coach leaders and design and deliver education and training programmes for employees at all levels. Of optimistic nature, Lynn believes a solution can always be found and her strong network of global contacts is key to accessing the knowledge and insight required. She actively develops her knowledge to keep up to date with the latest research and thinking.

Lynn has presented at international forums as a key note speaker and facilitated events and guest speaker panels, holds an MSc in Human Resource Management and is a certified Analytic Network coach.

Music and football are important in Lynn’s life and she has advised her local Premiership club with their award-winning diversity efforts. She is a school governor, volunteers for a local charity and enjoys the delights a teenage daughter brings.
