Meet The Team

Dr Matthew Freeman

Principal Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Consultant

Matthew has been working on EDI issues for over twenty years, 15 of those as a consultant. An accomplished facilitator, speaker and published author, Matthew is passionate about making EDI conversations more accessible for those who are new to the journey.

Matthew has worked with a wide variety of organisations, including members of the US Congress, large banks, small charities, and everything in between. His expertise is in demand worldwide, and he’s been asked to consult or speak in Hong Kong, Kenya, South Africa, Greece, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Spain, the UK and all across his native US. He recently led a train-the-trainer workshop on how to build trust across divides with participants from ten countries, including Ukraine.

Matthew is a member of Faculty for the Senior Faith in Leadership Programme, which brings together leaders from different faith traditions to Windsor Castle each year for leadership training and interfaith dialogue. He has also consulted with over a dozen different organisations in the UK on EDI matters, from training a charity’s volunteers to working with employees at St. Paul’s Cathedral.

With degrees in both the sciences and the humanities, Matthew appreciates the opportunities to bring that diverse educational background to bear on topics like unconscious bias, exploring what we know about how the brain functions and how that impacts our human interactions. He also leads workshops on allyship, introduction to equity, as well as dialogue and facilitation training.

He is the author of the book Overcoming Bias: Building Authentic Relationships Across Differences.
